WHY IT MATTERS
Agriculture is the backbone of Uganda’s economy, and a major source of livelihood and employment for the majority of the population.
68% of Uganda’s working population is employed in agriculture, with 70% of women engaged in agriculture.
Commercialization of the sector is impeded by farmers’ limited resources and services e. g. quality agro inputs, lack of sustainable irrigation infrastructure, etc.
The sector growth is also impaired by insufficient storage facilities, poor post-harvest handling practices, limited knowledge of modern production practices among others.
Recent estimates of Uganda’s crop yield losses in the postharvest processes was nearly 35%.
Equipping Ugandan cocoa farmers with knowledge and practical skills in Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs ) and post harvest handling practices, there is a big opportunity for improved financial gains for all players in the value chain.
OUR PRODUCTS
COCOA BEANS
Ugandan cocoa beans are rich in nutrients and grown without using fertilizers or hazardous chemicals in the rich volcanic soil in an ideal growing climate created near the equator at an elevation that is rare in our world. The Cocoa Pods are hand picked, split open and the beans are fermented in sacks to obtain the optimal rich smooth flavor of Ugandan Cocoa Beans. They are then sun dried and packaged for transportation.
