Our Story
This story begins on Agnes’ Father’s farm where she experienced the rhythm and routine of nurturing and growing things like coffee and cattle.
She went on to University to study logistics and found her place leading an ethical fashion brand that became the largest Ugandan exporter of manufactured goods to the United States. Aggie was instrumental in creating opportunities for brilliant University Bound young women in the context of building community and equipping them with the skills to contribute to their future success while developing a core team of women who were the backbone of the operation and the keepers of the knowledge and mentors to the annual groups of young women who spent 9 months working at the workshop each year to earn funds and scholarships to pay for University. She was cultivating young people and the gardens surrounding her home.

She was led to purchase a farm in a village outside of Kampala in 2019. The shutdown of 2020 impacted the world, Uganda and the company. As the challenges persisted in the business world, Agnes escaped to the farm for solace in the gardens that produced abundantly and fed the community surrounding her. She began researching agricultural options to guide the development of the farm and saw the undeveloped potential of Cocoa and planted seedlings on half of the farm between rows of matooke in 2023.
As Agnes watched the cocoa beans flourish she has reached out to and connected with the cocoa bean farmers in her community and discovered the reality about the gaps in knowledge and access to capital and technology that leaves the small share farmers in poverty even as the value of the crops they are working hard to develop are at all time highs in the global marketplace.

Agnes clearly sees the gaps that exist and knows how to organize resources and build partnerships to bring education and leadership into a community of hardworking people that will flourish under leadership and nurturing guidance to collectively organize their efforts to build their bargaining power with the benefit of Agnes’ knowledge, experience and connections to effectively navigate governmental regulations and exporting to the United States.
The Koko Agri Farms Team has the vision, exprience and ability to elevate the quality and quantity of Ugandan Cocoa Beans while creating a more profitable, equitable and ethical Cocoa Industry.
